The lovely Manila Luzon asked me to finish up the edit of her debut music video for her single “Hot Couture.” The footage was hilarious, colorful and fun, and it was a blast to work with her again.

For the 4th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race we had to go BEYOND! So we decided that RuPaul would be a mad scientist and create the contestants in a crazy drag laboratory. Inspiration included 2001: A Space Odyssey, Barbarella, the old Batman series, Metropolis, Star Trek, Gareth Pugh, Andromeda Strain (1971), Lost, Bjork’s “All Is Full of Love” video, Michael & Janet Jackson’s “Scream” video, and a little Fantasia thrown in there for good measure.

I wrote, directed, produced and edited the launch campaign. This is the director’s cut of the launch spot, which ran online only.

I directed a two-day shoot with RuPaul and the contestants, then edited a series of promos for on-air and online. This was our second tease. In 2010 my friend Arielle Baer and I created a 30-minute television sitcom. She wrote a pilot, we got friends to form the cast and crew, and I directed a 6-day shoot that managed to stretch over 4 months (gotta love no-budget projects!). I finished the edit in June 2011, it’s one of the projects I’m most proud of.
